Description

Feedback has a powerful impact on students’ growth as writers, and the peer critique and revision process is an essential part of a student-centered writing classroom. This resource makes it easy to teach students how to effectively peer review each other’s writing, supports them as they give meaningful, constructive peer feedback, and guides the reflection and revision process as they apply the feedback from their peers.

This bundle includes an Introduction to Effective Peer Feedback lesson, 9 Peer Review Strategies with peer review sheets and peer feedback sentence stems, plus 5 Peer Review Reflection Forms to help students consider the feedback they've received and decide how they will use it to inform their next steps as writers.

The peer review strategies include Warm and Cool Peer Feedback, "I Notice, I Like, I Wonder," Praise Question Polish, T.A.G. Peer Feedback, Two Stars and a Wish, Glows and Grows, Praise Question Suggestion, Rose, Bud, Thorn, and Stars & Stairs / Praise & Push.

HOW IT WORKS
Students take ownership of the collaborative peer review process as they read and respond to each other’s work. Peer feedback forms and sentence starters help students learn to provide useful, focused, and actionable peer feedback in a positive and constructive way.

These lessons scaffold the peer critique and revision process and can be used again and again throughout the year. They work well with any form of writing. The bundle includes multiple versions of the peer feedback sheet for each peer review strategy.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
• 9 Editable Teaching Slides to introduce the purposes for peer review, warm and cool feedback, and the three rules for peer review
• 8 Teaching Slides with no-prep teacher modeling and answer keys
• 2 Worksheets for students to analyze example peer review comments for the qualities of effective peer feedback, plus answer keys
• 2 Worksheets for student to practice giving warm and cool peer feedback that is kind, specific, and helpful
• Multiple half-page Peer Review Sheets for each of the 9 peer feedback strategies in a variety of 12 designs: horizontal and vertical with borders in black and white or bold colors
• Editable handouts with feedback sentence starters for each peer feedback strategy
• 5 Reflection and Revision Forms
• "3 Rules of Peer Review" and "Feedback is a Gift" posters in 6 designs
• User-friendly Teacher's Guide with detailed lesson plan and tips for success
BONUS ✧ Warm and Cool Peer Review Forms and Peer Feedback Sentence Stems

Please Note: The posters, many of the sentence stems, and most of the Teaching Slides are the same across all the resources. This is to reinforce the core principles of effective warm and cool feedback and the three rules for peer feedback. The redundancy is reflected in the deeply discounted bundle price.

Peer review is TOUGH. My students were turning in work that was not edited or revised. I wanted my students to hold each other accountable for editing and revising their work. This resource helped my students see what peer editing looks like, sounds like, and how it can help their writing for future assignments.

This was a great way to help guide students on what positive feedback looks like and use the examples provided to help them create/copy a similar response.

This is a comprehensive set of resources, all presented in a fun and engaging way. Easy for an instructor to use without adaptation, but also easily adaptable. Peer review is so important and is often approached in a haphazard way. These resources help students use peer review in a truly meaningful and productive way. Highly recommended.
