Percent, Decimal, and Fraction Conversions Math Game/Center by Miss Middle School Teacher

This is a great station or game for students to practice converting between percents, decimals, and fractions. It even includes 'LEVEL 1' and 'LEVEL 2' question cards for differentiation! All you need are some dice and some plastic chips for playing pieces! This product includes all the rest!

The following learning targets are covered through this math game/center:

Students will be able to:
Convert percents to fractions
Convert fractions to percents
Convert percents to decimals
Convert decimals to percents
Find the percent of a number
Apply knowledge of these concepts through story problems
and application questions.

Students play in groups of 2-4. I have them use personal white boards, but they could just as easily complete the problems on notebook paper. The game board is set up with 4 classrooms and a school bus. Each classroom contains 10 desks. Students divide up colored chips to represent their "students" and place them on desks throughout the four classrooms. Their goal is to get all of their students out of the classroom and to the bus before the other players do. They shuffle the deck of "Percents Cards" and place them face down on a table. Then, they flip one card over. Everyone in the group tries to accurately complete the problem (this is not a race!). Once everyone has finished, they show their answers. They can check answers with each other, or consult a copy of the answer key.

All students with correct answers get to roll the dice. Whatever they roll is the number of "students" they get to release from class and put on the bus. Play continues until one player gets all of their students on the bus. My middle school students really enjoy this game!

This set includes: Student game directions, game board, a set of 60 Level 1 problem cards, a set of 24 Level 2 problem cards, an answer key for both sets of cards, and brief teacher preparation notes.

This was a very engaging resource. My students were productive, yet challenged. This was a good resource.

This did not end up being a good fit for my class. It was a bit juvenile.

I absolutely love this game. I like that I can simply add or remove certain cards, which enables me to modify it for certain students or classes. It is a great way to review percentages. I copied each page of question cards on different colored cardstock so that I can remove a whole type of questions easily. I photocopied the keys in matching colors to make it easier for the students to find the right keys. Also, I made a small variation. I have the students use a 4-sided die which determines which classroom to remove "students". The students (the actual ones) only move 1 token away from that classroom. (When they do the initial setup, they decide how many "students" go into each "classroom"). Thank you so much for this fun and useful resource!
