This activity includes 10 problems total

• 5 problems = 1 step percent problems that you must calculate either the part or the total
• *BONUS* the five 1 step problems are also translated to Spanish
• 3 problems = 2 step percent problems where you must calculate the part or total but includes either addition or subtraction, ie. sale price
• 2 problems = Challenge problems

Students must…

• Correctly solve the real world problem
• Complete the tape diagram to represent the situation
• Identify the mathematical error in complete sentences
• Explain why the incorrect solution did not make sense in the real life situation

There are two versions of the 1-step problem included: 1 that has the tape diagram partially filled in and 1 that does not.

• WORK INDEPENDENTLY ON 1 ASSIGNED PROBLEM FOR A SET AMOUNT OF TIME AND THEN JIGSAW TO FIND A CLASSMATE WITH THE SAME PROBLEM TO COMPARE ANSWERS WITH

• 6.RP.3.c Find a percent of a quantity as a rate per 100.  Solve problems that involve finding the whole given a part and the percent, and finding a part of a whole give the percent.
