Purpose: The overarching goal of this lesson is to teach students about ratios, proportions, and percents. This fits into the ‘bigger picture’ because it will help all students be able to solve real life problems and figure out sales tax and percent tip.
Objectives: As a result of this lesson, SWBAT:
• Solve problems using understanding of relationships among fractions, percents, and decimals.
• Compute taxes, tips, and discounts using percents.
• Convert decimals to fractions to percents and vice versa.
