These tasks require the student to create answers or products which demonstrate his/her knowledge or skills. Performance tasks can be used before instruction, during instruction, or as a summative assessment following a unit of instruction.
Effective performance tasks allow students to be active participants, not passive recipients of information, knowledge, and skills. Performance tasks also allow students the opportunity to demonstrate their ability by applying their knowledge and skills to reality-based situations and scenarios.
