Description

This 3rd Grade Area and Perimeter Unit provides scaffolded instruction that you can implement in your classroom lessons. The unit begins with finding the perimeter of rectangles, triangles, and other regular polygons. The unit then transitions to area-related questions involving squares and rectangles. Then, students can connect area models with the distributive property when finding the area of larger rectangles. The unit ends with an application of the relationship between both area and perimeter, when rectangles are being considered.
