Description

This Free resource is the Planning and Brainstorming Page for a larger end-of-unit project described below.

Complete the Periodic Table and Trends Project found in my store!

Assignment / Project is creating a customized periodic table: Students are tasked with designing a personalized periodic table on a topic of their choice, subject to teacher approval. The chosen topic must be school-appropriate and can range from musical bands/instruments to farm animals, construction jobs, soccer, makeup, or any other creative idea. Students seem to enjoy bringing out their creativity and really pull the real work and student interest into the chemistry classroom. Students love it and seem to have fun with it as well as great feedback from Admin Observations! Little Prep is required on teacher's end! Class time is about a one-week assignment!

If you choose to purchase the full project it includes: Links to Google Docs and Slides

- Brainstorming and Planning Page

- Research Pages and Organizer

- Possible Template for student slides

- 2 Student Work samples

This is a great way to wrap up the periodic table and trends. The assignment follows NGSS standards and MYP Honors Chemistry Criterion

NGSSHS-PS1-1
Use the periodic table as a model to predict the relative properties of elements based on the patterns of electrons in the outermost energy level of atoms. Examples of properties that could be predicted from patterns could include reactivity of metals, types of bonds formed, numbers of bonds formed, and reactions with oxygen. Assessment is limited to main group elements. Assessment does not include quantitative understanding of ionization energy beyond relative trends.
