Description
✨ This Google Slides activity is the perfect way to get to know your students at the beginning of the school year! You can make it an assignment on Google Classroom, creating a copy for each student to submit, OR you can delete the colorful boxes and print out a physical copy for each student. Once students turn this in, you can use them to decorate your classroom with their photos by leaving the document as a whole sheet of paper or folding it in half along the provided line and using either the photo side or the personal numbers side. This is very versatile and can edited to meet your students' needs. You can also edit the "7th grade" text to match your own grade level or class title. Instructions are included in the document for your own use or your students' use. There is also a link to a Screencastify video, which can, again, be used by yourself or your students to explain how to complete the assignment. ✨
I find this assignment is perfect for use with my math classes, as it combines getting to know my students with numbers (math!!) in an outside-of-school context. For use with my own students, I introduce this assignment on the first day of school. I then give students a few minutes each day for the first week of school, with the goal of having them finished before our school's open house. This year I will be having students complete this digitally, but I have used physical copies of this in the past and it makes a great bulletin board idea! To see more about how I use this resource and others in my classroom on wheels, please check out my Instagram and YouTube.
