This is a set of pages for an interactive phonics notebook. It focuses on r-controlled vowels (ar, er, ir, or, and ur).

-r-controlled vowel flaps (1 per vowel, 5 total)- identify the r-controlled vowel words, write and illustrate a sentence using the words

-accordion flaps (36 total)- build the r-controlled vowel words

-r-controlled vowel pocket sorts- (1 per vowel, 5 total)- fill in the missing r-controlled vowel and put it in the correct pocket

-r-controlled vowel petal flaps (6 total)- write and draw r-controlled vowel words

-r-controlled vowel word flaps (1 per vowel, 5 total)- write words that contain the r-controlled vowel

-blend puzzle flaps (4 puzzles per blend, 20 total)- build the picture puzzles and write the r-controlled vowel word on the flap

-word building flaps (6 per vowel, 20 total)- use the letter tiles to build the words

-r-controlled vowel sort flaps (3 total)- sort the pictures by the r-controlled vowel


This could be used whole-group during a phonics lesson, in guided reading, as morning work, or with small groups that need extra support with blending and decoding.

These pages are sized to fit in a standard spiral notebook, but directions are included in the file for use in a composition notebook.
