Description

Are you looking for a fun, effective way to teach two syllable words using Orton Gillingham VCCV and VCCCV syllable division strategies? This science of reading aligned phonics resource is just what you need! It’s designed to help your students confidently read and divide words with two closed syllables.

There are 56 words that include consonant digraphs, initial consonant blends, and final consonant blends and use mainly closed syllables but also some open syllables. Sample words include sunset, uphill, complex, and insect.

Teachers ❤️ this product! Check out the glowing reviews from educators who’ve seen how well it works in their classrooms.

You’ll have flexible ways to use this printable list:

  • Cut the words apart and give each student one word at a time to ensure everyone stays on the same word.
  • Hand out a full sheet of words so students can mark, split, and decode at their own pace—without cutting anything.
  • Let students cut out their words first, then have them hunt for specific words to decode together, using prompts like, "Find the word that starts with __."

To make it even more fun, we’ve included creative ideas like using highlighters, pattern scissors, or Wikki Stix to add some excitement to your lessons.

Ready to transform your syllable division lessons? Grab this printable now and watch your students’ reading skills soar!

This printable word list pairs perfectly with my interactive digital product, but also works great on its own! Use the digital version on your whiteboard while students follow along with the printable for better engagement. It’s the perfect bundle for visual and hands-on learning!
