What's Included? 2 Fun, silly activities for Grades 3-5 w/ Answer Keys
- Pi Day Puzzler An 8 X 8 Matrix Grid Logic Puzzle. This puzzle is personalized by every student. Students will apply critical reading and deductive reasoning to match each of their friends with a silly Pi Day Joke. This is a bit easier than the average Prickly Pear Puzzle as it's intended to be a quick brain buster for early finishers.
- Pi Day Joke Decoder There is a corresponding decoder activity for the logic puzzle with the decoder built right into the page. Students will use attention to detail to decode the punch line for the jokes. All the jokes listed, are the jokes from the matrix logic puzzle.
BOTH activities come in color and B&W.
What skills will students practice?
- Critical reading
- Deductive reasoning
- Perseverance through productive struggle
- Elimination thinking
- Attention to detail with a decoder
Students may do the two activities in either order. I recommend printing back to back and let students choose whether to start with the Logic Puzzle or the decoder. The students who previewed this recommended doing the decoder first, but it is up to you! This is a low prep, print and go, make your teacher life easier, kind of activity.
The color versions are great for plastic sleeves and dry erase markers, especially when used as an Activity Center.
While most Prickly Pear Puzzles tend to be extra challenging, this puzzle set is designed for the grades 3-5, and is fairly easy. This makes it great for students new to logic puzzles.
Answer key included.
