Description

Pickleball Unit + Alternate Lessons for each day are included for absent students!

See a quick video of this unit in action by clicking here.

This is a complete unit for Pickleball Lesson Plan for grades 6 - 8. It could also be very easily tweaked for high school by making the drills a little more challenging. Students will learn the underhand serve, striking forehand and backhand, rules and how to play doubles in Pickleball, and much more. Demonstrations and recommended time increments of each skill is included.

Each lesson plan is structured for a 90 minute class. This unit will last a minimum of 6 90 minute class periods, depending on your class sizes. There are five lesson plans included, with the 5th lesson plan giving instructions to cover several days of a tournament. The unit starts by teaching small skills, advancing into performing the underhand serve, forehand and backhand strikes (and a peer assessment is included), and then ends with a full on doubles tournament with bracket instructions included.

Also included is a complete equipment review with actual photos of the products used in my class that should save every teacher a ton of time (and money).

The majority of the quick demo video links included in the lesson plans are actual videos of myself or my students completing the drills.

I also have included detailed instructions for a substitute teacher, AND an alternate assignment to give to students that may be absent, quarantined, etc.

Step by step instructions are included for the teacher in this lesson plan, and it is aligned to TN State Standards and National SHAPE Standards.

Created by Hayley Wood, Tennessee TAHPERD Middle School PE Teacher of the Year 2021.
