"Great game. Students need to be able to use and read protractors. I copied the black and white copy for students and let them draw on it, but you could do the color option, laminate it, and have them use dry-erase markers to make the angles. "

Description

In this geometry and measurement game, students practice drawing angles using a protractor. Players draw a card and then use a protractor to draw an angle with the degree measurement specified on the card. The first player to make their way all the way around the pie wins!

Pie Eating Contest is a simple, fun, and effective way to practice drawing angles with protractors and helps build conceptual understanding of angle measurement.

This resource includes:

  • teacher directions
  • a game board (with "how to play" directions)
  • 18 angle degree cards
  • a black-line version for black and white printing

To create a reusable version, print the game board on card stock and laminate or place in a plastic sheet protector. Students can use fine point dry erase markers to mark their angles.

Recognize angles as geometric shapes that are formed wherever two rays share a common endpoint, and understand concepts of angle measurement:
An angle is measured with reference to a circle with its center at the common endpoint of the rays, by considering the fraction of the circular arc between the points where the two rays intersect the circle. An angle that turns through 1/360 of a circle is called a “one-degree angle,” and can be used to measure angles.
An angle that turns through 𝘯 one-degree angles is said to have an angle measure of 𝘯 degrees.
