Description
This math menu activity can be used individually by students or with a partner. It can also be used in small group math intervention. It contains 2 different menu activity cards, instructions, and 2 student activity sheets.
Have students duplicate the pattern they see on the menu cards using square color tiles, Unifix cubes, or snapping cubes. After students build the patterns on the menu card, they will extend the pattern by building the next two pig pens.
The student activity sheet with t-chart is also great to use for whole group math talks. This activity is classroom tested and student/teacher approved. My friends had a blast building the pig pens and identifying the growing pattern. Lots of great discussion about what would happen if we continued the pattern indefinitely.
