This is an entire plan for a scavenger hunt to celebrate "Talk Like a Pirate Day" which is September 19th every year. The students are placed in groups to complete a scavenger hunt, by solving riddles and math division problems aligned with the common core standards for fifth and sixth grade. Could be adapted for other grade levels. The plan includes the packet for students with rules, a letter for parent volunteers, and sample riddles that I used. The document is editable so you can personalize it for your class and building.
