Description

It’s “busy work” - but it’s actually engaging and fun for students! Perfect for last-minute sub plans, early finishers, and students who need extra practice. It's more engaging than a basic worksheet, as students feel rewarded to unlock each square as they try to guess what they're coloring!

What is “pixel art”? Pixel art originates from a digital art form where images are created by individual pixels, the tiny colored squares that make up a digital image. It's known for its distinctive, often retro, look, reminiscent of video games and computer graphics. Pixel art relies on a limited color palette and a grid-based structure, where each pixel's color and placement contribute to the overall image. Many students will relate to the pixelated artwork from their experience with computer games, such as Minecraft, Pokémon, or Roblox, which uses grid-based colors to create an overall image.

This worksheet can be used both physically or digitally. Students can use coloring utensils on a physical sheet, or use Google Docs “Background Color” tool to digitally color each square in the table grid.

By the end, students are ecstatic to see the full picture that THEY colored!

These are addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division problems with most numbers between 0 to 99. All problems and answers use only whole numbers. These questions are best suited for 3rd graders, but all grades 2nd to 6th will find applicable math problems. And with Google Docs, you’ll be able to edit ANY problem to whatever best suits your class material. (Just make sure that the math problem’s answer correlates to the same color number range, or edit the number range itself.)

If you cannot use Google Docs, you can also print out the sheet, use white-out over the questions and answers you want to change, and then scan your new sheet.

For each drawing worksheet, you will receive:

  • PDF version of the Coloring Sheet and Answer Sheet
  • Google Docs version (EDITABLE) of the Coloring Sheet and Answer Sheet (This will be a link inside of a PDF file.)
  • The final completed pixel art picture for reference
  • A comprehensive list of every available mystery grid worksheet

Every single line, letter, character, and square is EDITABLE in Google Docs. You can change the equations, colors, sizing, font, and more.

I’m available to recreate these worksheets for different subjects and/or grade levels, as well as any photo of your choosing - just send me a message!

Every image is digitally created by myself and tested in my own classroom.
