Fractions are difficult for young students. They look at 1/2 and are told that it is bigger than 1/3 when 3 is bigger than 2!
In this unit the student uses fraction words to name parts of whole objects or sets of objects. The student is expected to:
- name fractional parts of a whole object
- name fractional parts of a set of objects
If you ask young children to name their favorite foods one of the top ones chosen would be pizza.
