This Place Value Escape Room/Webscape is absolutely fantastic! The video game theme instantly grabbed my students’ attention, and they were so motivated to “compete” in the VR Game Builder Academy. The storyline is creative and fun—it really made the activity feel like an adventure rather than just another math assignment. The four challenges were the perfect mix of rigorous and engaging. My students practiced all the key 4th-grade place value skills: reading and writing multi-digit numbers, comparing numbers, rounding, and understanding place value. The secret codes they had to unlock added such an exciting gamified element—they were *so* invested in getting to the next step! Everything was easy to navigate, and the Webscape format made it work great on our devices. I loved how smoothly the challenges were laid out, and my students stayed on task the entire time because the activity felt like a game, not work. This resource is a total win—highly recommend for centers, review days, or anytime you want your kids truly engaged in math!

This resource was easy to use and very clear for my 4th graders. It fit perfectly into my lessons and required little prep on my end, which I really appreciated. My students were engaged and able to work independently, and the content supported the skills we’re working on in class. I will definitely be using this again and highly recommend it to other teachers!

Recognize that in a multi-digit whole number, a digit in one place represents ten times what it represents in the place to its right. For example, recognize that 700 ÷ 70 = 10 by applying concepts of place value and division.
Read and write multi-digit whole numbers using base-ten numerals, number names, and expanded form. Compare two multi-digit numbers based on meanings of the digits in each place, using >, =, and < symbols to record the results of comparisons.
Use place value understanding to round multi-digit whole numbers to any place.
