Place Value Review Boom Cards

Practice composing and decomposing three and four digit numbers with these boom cards. Students will learn to regroup and represent numbers in different ways. This is a perfect deck to practice place value, a prerequisite to addition and subtraction, and number sense.

The first ten cards allow students to drag number tiles (1,000, 100, 10, and 1 circles) to each place value to represent a given number. They will exchange the tiles to regroup, then write the number in standard form

Example:

  • 19 hundreds
  • 12 tens
  • 11 ones

=2,031

The last ten cards are multi-select asking students to select all the ways a given number can be represented:

Example:

535

  • 53 tens 5 ones
  • 5 hundreds 3 tens 5 ones
  • 5 hundreds 35 ones

This deck goes along with the following standard:

Read and write multi-digit

whole numbers up to 10,000

using base-ten numerals and

expanded form.
