Description

Do you have students who are struggling to understand the value of the numbers in multi-digit numbers? These leveled matching games are a fun way to provide support! They can also help identify misconceptions about place value while providing additional practice for strengthening student understanding.

Deck A is a great way to introduce analyzing place value and deals primarily with two-digit numbers along with a few three-digit numbers.

Deck B covers low three-digit numbers. Use for differentiation, remediation, or enrichment based on your students' needs.

Players are given a set of place value clue cards to match with the corresponding number. A few of the cards are even out of order to gauge whether students are paying attention and really grasp the concept of place value.

Note: This resource has been updated with the TpT digital overlay that allows you to assign activities to students for completion online. If you would prefer to modify the number of sheets, that option is also available to you. Check out this link to learn more about digital Easel Activities.

⚡ A “Magic Place Value Chart” is included to help students organize the clues and compare the place values using expanded notation. This also provides a strong visual for students who need additional reinforcement. There is a chart for each deck, aligned with the level of difficulty for that deck.

The two decks of game cards could also be used as a set of task cards for a math center, using the recording sheets provided.

What You Get:

2 Leveled Matching Games with 30 game cards in each deck - half with Place Value clues and the other half with the matching numbers - one set is in color and the other is in black and white (can also be used as task cards)

Two different recording sheets :

►1) Sheet 1 - for recording answers

►2) Sheet 2 - designed for students to select a card and show their thinking and the steps they took to solve it.

Answer Keys - Hard copies and QR codes

"Magic Place Value" charts and an example for students to use. This is a helpful resource for students who are more visual learners.

Editable blank game cards for your math scholars to create their own! It has been my experience that when students can write a problem and provide the answer, this demonstrates mastery and a more in-depth understanding of the concept.
