Description

I have found that even by 3rd grade students are still struggling with number sense. This Place Value Math Mat with Number Cards can help your students to build number sense!
Help students use terms such as:
digit
place value
value
increase
decrease
round and more:

These mats can be laminated for write and wipe, or use the digit cards for students to manipulate building numbers, identifying values and increasing number sense. I place a copy in page protectors. We take them out and practice number sense by building a number, reading it, identifying the value of its digit, write it in expanded form, increase or decrease the value of it.

Teach students the baby-mama-papa-comma rule to separate families/periods from each other. Students can use baby-ones, mama-tens, and papa hundreds in each family to help develop a visual for each place in a period. Your students will master reading large numbers!

Included is 3 place value mats, digit cards; a generic place value worksheet/center activity.

I made and laminated copies to send to students on the supply delivery bus. They loved having it at home to follow along with me in class.
