Description
Place value is the foundation of our number system! Flexibility with numbers is an essential building block of number sense. Writing numbers in expanded form and standard form will help students see how to regroup numbers for addition and subtraction - building toward connections between strategies based on place value and the traditional algorithm. You can use this activity to help students find the connections between different ways to represent numbers. This can be used in grade 4 to explore place value relationships or as reinforcement/review for grade 5.

Thank you for sharing. I have been looking for some games to play to demonstrate and reinforce the various ways to show regrouping/composing/decomposing place value amounts (not just decimals or addition/subtraction). Nice equivalent numbers in different place value forms. (The cards are different sizes so that makes playing memory or a game like that tricky - but they can be used in many other ways!)
