### Description

This place value resource gets your students thinking about and working with place value to compare numbers in a fun and engaging way. Whole numbers from the ten thousands to millions, as well as decimal numbers to the thousandths are included – in word, number, and expanded form. With over 200 number cards included, and 6 different math mats, this resource will work for a variety of upper elementary grades.

Math Mats can be used in so many ways in the classroom:

•Use the mat as a whole class warm-up activity, projecting the mat for students to see and having them use the A/B or True/False cards to participate.

•Use in the same way as a review activity after a lesson.

•Use the mats in a guided or small group math session and letting the students manipulate the cards on the mats.

•Use the mats as a math station activity or partner activity.

This resource includes:

6 different Math Mats – Skills covered include identifying the greater / less

number, comparing with inequality signs, and ordering numbers.

A/B and True/False Student Cards – Students hold up these cards during math mat work to indicate their answers. The large print makes it easy for the teacher to quickly identify any areas of misconception or students that may need extra assistance.

Number Cards – There are over 200 number cards included in this resource. There are two sets of cards: one for whole numbers and one for decimals. Each set contains 36 different numbers in each of standard, written, and expanded form. Numbers range from the thousandths to the millions. You can shuffle all the cards together, or you can pick and choose specific sets (whole numbers or decimals) or numbers to suit the needs of your classroom.

Entrance and Exit Slips for Whole Numbers and Decimals – To check for progress at the beginning and mid points / end of a unit (answers included).

•American and Canadian sets of numbers are included, as well as a full black and white copy for printing on colored paper.
