Description

Looking for a meaningful and independent math activity to reinforce number sense and place value? This printable worksheet is a classroom-tested resource that has worked wonders in my own math centers!

As a teacher, I know how valuable it is to find resources that are both effective and easy to implement. I designed this activity to provide my students with meaningful practice in working with numbers — without needing constant guidance from me. It became one of my go-to worksheets during centers and early finisher time.

This worksheet allows your students to:
✔ Break down numbers into place value (hundreds, tens, and ones)
✔ Write numbers in digits
✔ Write numbers in words
✔ Compare numbers using inequality signs
✔ Order numbers from least to greatest
✔ Frame numbers on a number line

Why you'll love this resource:

  • No prep — just print and use
  • Designed for independent work
  • Clear and student-friendly layout
  • Engages students while reinforcing essential math concepts
  • Perfect for use at any time of the year

I’ve used this worksheet in many different settings: during math centers, for students who finish early, as morning work, and even as homework. Every time, I noticed that students were focused, motivated, and enjoyed completing the tasks. Some even asked to redo the sheet for fun!

This resource encourages student autonomy while reviewing key concepts in number sense. You can easily adapt it to various grade levels, depending on the numbers you assign.

How to Use This Resource:

  • Print one copy per student (or laminate for reuse with dry-erase markers)
  • Use it during your math centers or stations
  • Great as an early finisher task or quiet seat work
  • Use it for review before an assessment
  • Include it in a sub tub or emergency plans
  • Ideal for homework or distance learning packets

Teacher tip: Pair this worksheet with number cards or math manipulatives to help visual learners understand place value more concretely!
