My pedagogy is a balance of routine, so that students have clear expectations, with variability, so that there is a constant curiosity and eagerness to learn. Each class flows in a similar way - I start with a bell ringer, followed by an engaging teacher-led lecture with guided notes, and then I gradually release them into an independent activity. I like to keep them on their toes (and off their phones!) by switching up the independent work. It could be a lab, a coloring assignment, a game, a digital escape room, or a craft! Whatever it is, it will be fun and there will always be something for every type of learner.
My father always said, "worry about learning and the grades will follow." This sentiment has had a huge impact on me as a student and a teacher. I never "crammed" for a test because I truly learned as I went. Similarly, prepping students all year for a standardized test isn't engaging, scientific, or uplifting. As a teacher, it is just as important to inspire growth & curiosity as it is to teach, and this is how I approach my content as a TPT creator.
