This assignment can be used as a fun ending to a lesson on plant types (vascular or nonvascular, seed or seedless). Students will create a new species of plant, name it using binomial nomenclature, describe its classification and traits as well as write a story about it. It is a creative way to assess the understanding of the topic. It can easily be modified to be used with partners, as class work or homework. Students, especially those interested in design or art will be delighted with this assignment.
