This slideshow focuses on 4 types of figurative language (Similes, Metaphors, Hyperbole, and Personification) and includes examples of song lyrics that contain these types of figurative language.

1. Simile: Fight Song by Rachel Platten, Replay by Iyaz

2. Metaphor: Stereo Hearts by Gym Class Heroes, Mercy by Shawn Mendes

3. Hyperbole: Grenade by Bruno Mars, 1000 Years by Christina Perri

4. Personification: Wake Me Up by Avicii, Thriler by Michael Jackson

5. Students have to identify what type of figurative language is in these songs: The River by Garth Brooks, Believer by Imagine Dragons, Heartless by Kanye West, How Far I'll Go from Disney's Moana, and Mean by Taylor Swift.
