Description
21st Century Learners are fascinated and competent with new technologies and ways of creating and displaying information. Using a Blog website (Weebly, EduBlogs) as an avenue for intermediate students to express themselves through poetry gives them ownership of their learning, and creates interest in writing and comprehension activities as well.
Not only are they able to display their poems online through blogging, they can also share their blog websites (free through weebly) with other students in the class.
This unit provides the teacher with a list of activities for students to complete on a blog which allows students to write a variety of poems (haiku, tanka, free verse for example). Students also research poems connected to an overall theme (which they decide) to add to their blogs.
Included in this assignment is a rubric to assess poetry within the blog and a marking sheet as well.
I hope you enjoy this unit as much as my students do!

okay to use if you have access to computers regularly. Students weren't as engaged as I thought they would be though with this.
My students loved this resource as a morning bell work. They were engaged and it gave them a fun way to meet the curriculum needs too. I enjoyed not having to spend a lot of time in preparation for the lesson.
This was amazing and so helpful
