Description

In this bundle you get the Polyatomic Ions Presentation, the corresponding fill in the blank notes, the list of polyatomic ions, and the polyatomic ion list.

This lesson is a quick overview of the polyatomic ions (PAI). Students will learn the definition of “Polyatomic Ion” as well as some tips and tricks on how to memorize them. This lesson takes about 10 minutes.

The quiz gives students either the name or the formula of a polyatomic ion, and they have to fill in what is missing. It tests their memory of the names, formulas, and charges of 28 Polyatomic Ions.

I have found this really helps my students in the nomenclature part of this unit, even though I do let them use their PAI list for the rest of the year. If I don’t ask them to memorize them, then assess them with this quiz, I have noticed they struggle at spotting PAIs in ionic compounds and acids
