Description
In this unit, students travel around the world to master polynomials. Students begin in Anchorage, Alaska where they practice identifying and simplifying like terms. After checking their answers, they are given a new boarding pass to travel to Nevada and then Brazil to practice multiplying polynomials using the FOIL method. After mastering multiplying polynomials, students then practice factoring polynomials. Once their group is finished, students will play polynomial tic-tac-toe.
This unit was originally used for gifted fifth graders but can easily fit in with middle school curriculum. I printed out boarding passes for each station and that is how I kept track of how many sections each student completed correctly. At each station, I also had an answer key so students were responsible for checking their work and correcting it before moving onto the next location.
