Description

Turn polynomial practice into a fun competitive partner game your Algebra students actually want to finish! This Polynomial Operations activity is designed to review adding, subtracting and multiplying polynomials in a way that's collaborative, competitive, and way more fun than a worksheet.

In Pathway Frontier, students face off in partners to build the longest connected road by simplifying polynomial expressions and claiming matching road tiles. Every correct answer earns a new piece-- and a chance to build a longer road than their partner.

With built-in differentiation, a self-checking format, and both printable and digital options, this game makes reviewing polynomial operations feel more like a board game than just another class period.

Low-prep for you

Just print (or assign digitally) and go!

Built-in differentiation

Problems range from easy to challenging for all learners

Self-Checking structure

If students can't find their answer, they know to rework it

Encourages strategic thinking

Students can analyze patterns for a deeper [and rewarding] challenge

SUGGESTED USES:

  • Formative assessment/review of previous grade-level
  • Mid-unit practice
  • End-of-unit review
  • Meaningful practice for days when it's hard to focus

In Pathway Frontier, each student pairing competes to claim road tiles by solving math problems. As students recognize patterns and plan ahead, they build number sense and strategic thinking alongside content mastery.

⭐ The game structure allows for easy differentiation, natural math talk, and an energy that keeps even your most reluctant learners engaged.

⭐ With 41 problems, this activity can be used across multiple days or completed in a single class period—just tally up the longest road to crown the winning team!

Met expectations
Great value
Standards-aligned
My students really, really enjoyed this! I set a timer for 30 minutes and they begged me to extend the time. When I asked them for feedback, they said it was a great activity and they had fun (and practiced) all at the same time! I used the digital version - that was a life-saver! No copies needed!
