Description

This polynomial bundle combines content from Dividing Polynomials to the Remainder and Factor Theorems. This resource is designed for teachers to use sequentially, starting with building a foundation in Long Division and Synthetic Division, and then applying those skills to find remainders and check for factors. It includes concept summary notes, practice worksheets, and maze activities to help students review their knowledge.

What’s Included in this Bundle:

  • Dividing Polynomials Notes & Practice: Content summaries and practice worksheets for polynomial Long Division and Synthetic Division. It covers arranging polynomials into Standard Form and identifying components (Dividend, Divisor, Quotient, Remainder).
  • Remainder & Factor Theorem Practice: Exercises on using synthetic division to find remainders, check for factors, and solve equations to find missing coefficients.
  • Polynomial Maze Activities: Remainder Maze and Factor Maze activities where students calculate polynomial problems with degrees from xΒ² up to x⁴ to find the correct path.
  • Detailed Answer Keys: Answer key pages showing important step-by-step methods for every page, including visual path answers for the maze activities to make grading convenient for teachers.

Why You'll Love This Resource:

  • Sequential Content: Helps students practice division skills before applying synthetic division to solve Remainder and Factor Theorem problems.
  • Supplementary Activities: Maze activities add variety to problem-solving, allowing students to practice calculating in a format different from regular worksheets.
  • Ready to Use (No Prep): Just print and it's ready to be used as a worksheet in the classroom or assigned as homework right away.

Know and apply the Remainder Theorem: For a polynomial 𝘱(𝘹) and a number 𝘒, the remainder on division by 𝘹 – 𝘒 is 𝘱(𝘒), so 𝘱(𝘒) = 0 if and only if (𝘹 – 𝘒) is a factor of 𝘱(𝘹).
Identify zeros of polynomials when suitable factorizations are available, and use the zeros to construct a rough graph of the function defined by the polynomial.
Rewrite simple rational expressions in different forms; write 𝘒(𝘹)/𝘣(𝘹) in the form 𝘲(𝘹) + 𝘳(𝘹)/𝘣(𝘹), where 𝘒(𝘹), 𝘣(𝘹), 𝘲(𝘹), and 𝘳(𝘹) are polynomials with the degree of 𝘳(𝘹) less than the degree of 𝘣(𝘹), using inspection, long division, or, for the more complicated examples, a computer algebra system.
