Description

Do you have space for students to calm down and regulate their emotions? A calm down corner provides visual aides and sensory tool to help students manage their social emotional learning in your classroom. It is designed to create a safe place for your students to regulate their emotions. It doesn't have to be a large space, as long as you have tools to support students big emotions.

You can set this up in a corner, with pillows or beans bags. You can also use a student desk, placed away from the rest of the class, so that students can have semi privacy (you, the teacher, want to able to see the student).

This includes tools and visuals to support you students. You get:

  • First - Then Schedule
  • Token Board (earn 2-5 tokens)
  • Calm Down expectations poster
  • Directional Cards
  • Breathing Cards
  • Calm Down Book
  • Calm Down Choice Board
  • Calm Down journal (tracing and blank)
  • Play Dough Task Cards
  • Calm Down Kit label and ideas
  • Feeling Clip Card with colors
  • Teacher Tips for Implementing

I have used all of these resources in my classroom. I have written tips for you to successfully implement them. I highly recommend you also use an individual schedule for students with behavior needs.

I tried a few different resources to help design my calm down center, and this is the one I ended up using the most resources from. I've stuck with it for 4 years now, I love the strategies that are included too!
