Description

This Star Chart is used for Positive Behavioral Training. When you want a child to participate in a non-preferred activity, this chart can be used to reward positive behaviors and increase participation. Choose an item that the child will be working for (candy, toy, favorite book, etc), write it on the chart, and begin non-preferred task. Each time the child completes one "rep" of the activity (cutting one shape with scissors, setting a timer for 1 minute and participating in non-preferred task until timer goes off), they receive 1 star. Have the child put the star on the chart. Once 5 stars are earned, the child has access to their reward (candy, toy, etc).

To assemble this tool:

- Print the handout

- Laminate the paper

- Cut the paper underneath where it says "I am working for"

- Cut out each star

- Place velcro on each star as well as each box on the chart

- You can also add velcro to the back of the page for easy storage of unused stars
