Description
Token boards and reward charts are a tool used to motivate students to complete schoolwork or challenging tasks. All students can benefit from these visual supports, especially students with autism, special education services, and children in early childhood education.
At HOME:
- Promotes motivation to complete undesirable tasks. Hang a board in your child’s room to reward completion of chores. Deliver tokens after each chore is completed.
- Hang one in the bathroom while toilet training. Deliver tokens for each successful use of the potty.
- Keep one by your child’s work area where schoolwork is completed. Deliver a token for each assignment, or when work is finished. You decide!
- Token boards provide a visual of progress for both parent and child.
In the CLASSROOM:
- Keep in a student's binder, book or folder to reward work completion, completion of difficult tasks or absence of undesirable behaviors.
- The small size is great for traveling and can be used between both home and school.
- Use the 5 token board for quicker reinforcement with quicker learning or assign each token to a weekday, reinforcing daily.
- Use the 10 token board to fade reinforcement once the tasks have been learned or to reinforce over a longer period of time.
The fun theme provides extra motivation too! Tokens can be earned when desired behaviors are observed, or as an assigned task is completed. When all tokens are received, reward is earned.
