Description
I make regular, positive phone calls home, DURING class time. Students gather at carpet and listen to the phone call. They never know who I am calling, until they hear me chatting with a parent or leaving a message. If the parent is available, they chat with their child for a moment, reinforcing the purpose of the call. If a message is left, the child is encouraged to listen to the message with their parent when they get home.

This is a wonderful ideal. Our school has encouraged us to make these call home on a regular basis, but never have they considered our doing it during class time. I can hardly wait to do this with my classes. Have you ever tried it with older students?
I have used it with grade one and two students- with great results!
