Description
This set of Cornell notes was used to introduce the idea of equivalent fractions. Students had created visual representations the day before and were moving into the mathematical process (using multiplication).
At the end of the notes presentation there is an assignment that students completed in their notebooks.
This lesson was immediately followed by my other PowerPoint which then uses these tables as a means to find equivalent fractions with common denominators in order to add.
The graphic organizer is a tool intended to combat student habit to 'change' the denominator without 'changing' the numerator.
