After 10 years of teaching Algebra 1 in High School, the biggest issue I faced was that many of my students who reached me were not properly prepared for Algebra 1. I created this lesson to help me find where my students were lacking in knowledge and to help them get caught up to where they should be.

This unit includes 6 detailed lessons with an assignment for each lesson. It also includes a quiz and quiz review. Keys are provided for every page of notes and assignments.

Lesson 0 = Negative Numbers

Lesson 1 = Absolute Value and Order of Operations

Lesson 2 = Distributive Property.

Lesson 3 = Combining Like Terms

Lesson 4 = Evaluating Expressions

Lesson 5 = Isolating a Variable

Quiz = Combines all strategies in above lessons

Important note : None of the assignments or Quiz have multiple choice answers. I never used it because when students are given the opportunity, many would just guess. I graded based on the mistakes they made and what they did or did not understand with the lessons we covered. This was much more beneficial for my students as they were able to reflect on their mistakes and better learn from them.

However I do provide the word files so you can adjust them for your needs.
