Description

Time to combine the mathematics world with the animal kingdom!! Fun and creative project to explore conic equations using Desmos.com! This comes complete with an intro page and rubric to give to your students so they can create their virtual pets and then share them with the class through google slides, prezi, or powerpoint!

Students must use all four conic equations, and have to restrict the domain or range of two of those equations. They are allowed to use any other equations in their pets as well. They must use at least 3 different colors!

TIP: To shade the equations in Desmos, change the = sign to < or >. For colors, you can google tutorials on how to change the color.

This is a PDF version.

2) Rubric. Gives you place to fill in grades!

Very disappointed. For $4 I thought it would be much more detailed to include directions for students on how to use Desmos, criteria for the project, or criteria for the presentation slides. Only criteria is "x" amount of equations. Waste of money.

I’m sorry you’re disappointed! The criteria for the project is on the front page in terms of setting it up for the students and what they are expected to create (1st and 2nd paragraph). The third paragraph talks about how to structure their slides. The rubric on the back then tells them more specifically what to include. It was intentionally left semi open-ended because I wanted students to be creative, but there are multiple parameters in the rubric they have to include to make grading easier. The part about using desmos is a good point! My students have worked with desmos multiple times this year so I didn’t think to set that up for them in this rubric, but I will work on creating a sheet and adding it to this product so you have access to it!
