Share

Description

Is your Precalculus class getting ready to work through their Triangles Unit and you're looking for an easy to use, ready to go bundle of everything you need to teach it? If so, this ready to use unit bundle will provide you with just what you need!

What it is, and what topics it covers:

Your Precalculus students will use the Law of Sines and Cosines and right triangle trig functions to identify missing parts of a triangle.  Your students will have guided notes with homework for every lesson, two content quizzes on Right Triangle Trig functions and Law of Sines and Cosines.  This six-lesson unit culminates with finding the area of a triangle with two sides and an angle.

This resource is intended to taught in the following order:

1. Precal Lesson - Triangles Unit - Solving Right Triangles

2. Precal Lesson - Triangles Unit - Law of Sines

3. Precal Lesson - Triangles Unit - Law of Cosines

4. Precal - Homework Worksheet Deciding between Law of Sines & Cosines

5. Precal Lesson - Triangles Unit - Real Life Triangles

6. Precal Lesson - (Trigonometry) Area of a Triangle

7. Precal Quizzes - Solving Right Triangles

8. Precal Quizzes - Law of Sines & Cosines

9. Precal Triangles Unit - Review Guide & Test

What is included in this resource?

⭐ 5 complete lessons with guided notes, and worksheet assignment

⭐ An extra practice worksheet assignment for Law of Sines & Cosines

⭐ 2 sets (of 3 different forms) (form A, B, & M) of Quizzes

⭐ Answer keys for each form

⭐ A comprehensive review guide to cover before the assessment

⭐ Answer key for the review guide

⭐ 3 different test assessment forms (A,B, and M)

⭐ Answer keys for each test form

BONUS: Precal Triangles Unit - Trig Functions Formulas "Cheat Sheet"

Objective:

⭐ Find missing parts of a triangle using right trig functions, Law of Sines, and/or Law of
Cosines.

⭐ The students will demonstrate the ability to define trigonometric ratios and apply
trigonometry to solve real-world problems.

How it’s used:

There are three forms of each quiz and test.  This reduces the opportunity for students to copy.

Emphasis is placed on using the Law of Cosine to find the largest angle in the triangle first.  Students are encouraged to use the Law of Cosines once in solving a triangle.  Then they can use the Law of Sines to find the remaining angle(s).  By using the Law of Cosines first to find the largest angle, the student can avoid the problem with the sine function and obtuse angles.

Throughout the unit, students are asked to round the sides to three decimal places and angles to the nearest degree.  Due to rounding in intermediate steps, slight variation should be allowed in the final answer ( +/- 1 degree)

Common Core Standards:

G.SRT.9. Derive the formula sine for the area of a triangle by drawing an auxiliary line from a vertex perpendicular to the opposite side.

G.SRT.10. Prove the Laws of Sines and Cosines and use them to solve problems.

G.SRT.11. Understand and apply the Laws of Sines and Cosines to find unknown measurements in right and non-right triangles, e.g., surveying problems, resultant forces.
