Unit 1 of this Precalculus curriculum is called Fundamentals. Unit 1 Lesson 1 is all about real numbers, sets and intervals. In this lesson, we cover how to:

• Identify different subsets of the real number system
• Be able to correctly use the commutative, associative and distributive properties
• Apply properties of negatives, fractions and the absolute value function
• Go back and forth between set builder notation and interval notation
• Find the union and intersection of different intervals

The objectives of the lesson are also clearly stated on the first page of the guided notes so the students can see the expectations of the lesson.

This resource includes guided notes with a pdf of the slides to go along with it, and a problem set which can be used as classwork or homework. Full, detailed answer keys are also included for the guided notes and problem set. There are an abundance of examples in both the guided notes and the problem set so the students can really learn the material.

I teach Precalculus as a CCP course and have had much success with this curriculum year after year! This curriculum does a great job challenging the students while making sure they really master the content.
