This was a great resource to use during a sub day. Students completed on their iPad, I left printed versions as back-ups for students without their iPads. After I returned, we went through each slide as a class to cement the ideas from the resource.

My students love these assignments... and so do I! They are so helpful in reviewing content with my students. I love that there are a variety of question types for students to complete, and it is so nice for my students to have the information in the assignment that they can reference if they need to. They look forward to doing these assignments with each new topic we cover. Thank you!!

Our unit on weather comes at the end of the year. We do not have state testing in science in 6th grade in Virginia, but we do for other subjects. So, I must find resources on standards we cover late in the year that students can work on independently, quietly, and at their own pace while the building is taking tests. These interactive weather lessons fit the bill PERFECTLY. I’ve used both the Predicting Weather slide lesson and the Air Masses and Fronts slide lesson. It was neither too easy nor too difficult for my 6th graders. The only thing I dislike about Google Slides (which is the fault of Google, not this resource) is that my ELL students and my students with reading deficiencies cannot use read-aloud or translation extensions on Google Slides.

Hey Necol! Thank you again for your kind words, and I'm so glad you and your students found this helpful! My plan (hopefully in the near future) is to create an editable text version of all of the interactive lessons so that the read aloud feature will be available!

NGSSMS-ESS2-5
Collect data to provide evidence for how the motions and complex interactions of air masses result in changes in weather conditions. Emphasis is on how air masses flow from regions of high pressure to low pressure, causing weather (defined by temperature, pressure, humidity, precipitation, and wind) at a fixed location to change over time, and how sudden changes in weather can result when different air masses collide. Emphasis is on how weather can be predicted within probabilistic ranges. Examples of data can be provided to students (such as weather maps, diagrams, and visualizations) or obtained through laboratory experiments (such as with condensation). Assessment does not include recalling the names of cloud types or weather symbols used on weather maps or the reported diagrams from weather stations.
