This download contains a set of 5 pre-assessment tasks that I created for my 1st and 2nd grade students. I created these tasks for a parent volunteer (who used to be a math teacher) to complete for me. The information she collects in a one on one "interview" setting is priceless!
The skills assessed include:
* time (hour, half hour, elapsed)
* money (coin identification, counting change amounts)
* days of the week, months of the year
* skip counting (2s, 5s, 10s)
* place value
Each pre-assessment task includes step by step instructions and a class checklist (with columns labeled at the top).
Some of the materials needed for these tasks include:
coins
analog clock with moving hands (and photocopy of blank digital clock)
place value blocks
index cards
