This activity was created for AP Environmental Science but can be a great resource to challenge students in lower levels!
Students are given an introduction into definitions and the equation for Net Primary Production. Using three drawings, they color in the details to visualize the overall process of these (sometimes) abstract numbers!
Next, students are tasked with calculations of the variables for different biomes which they will ultimately use to build two charts! Lastly, an analysis of the biomes and practice FRQ will have your students critically thinking about biodiversity and metabolic processes when it comes the primary production!
