"I LOVE this resource. It is so helpful for my students who do not know how to describe what is going on in their body.. especially during this cold and flu season. The visuals, examples, and opportunities to draw a personal connection with it is perfect. :)"

Description

This resource targets basic problem-solving of interoception processes, or physical sensations of the body, such as hunger, thirst, and nausea. Students use written and visual context to identify body signals, label how they’re feeling, and determine appropriate ways to manage each state.

This digital activity supports essential functional skills, including:

  • 🔎 Recognizing and naming internal body sensations
  • 🛠️ Choosing appropriate strategies to regulate and respond to those sensations

Students explore 10 interoceptive states (hot, awake, hungry, tired, thirsty, sick, cold, full, energetic, nauseated) through a consistent, scaffolded structure. Each sensation includes three parts to build understanding and carryover:

🧠 Label the sensation.

Using a brief scenario and picture, students identify the physical feeling from four choices.

🛠️ Problem-solve a response.

Students select an appropriate way to manage or respond to the sensation from four options.

💬 Make a personal connection.

Students describe a time they felt that way and explain what they did (and what they did/could do next time).

No time wasted with the printer! You'll get 2 digital formats that work seamlessly for in-person or teletherapy:

Students stay engaged throughout the activity with:

  • 🎨 Bright, colorful visuals
  • 🖱️ Clickable answer choices, navigation buttons, and fillable text boxes
  • 📸 Realistic, relatable scenarios
  • 🔗 Opportunities to connect learning to their own experiences

Use this tool to teach functional problem-solving and self-regulation skills in a meaningful way. By practicing recognizing and managing body sensations, students build awareness and strategies they can apply in real-life school, home, and community situations.
