Description

This product contains FIVE slideshows to teach UNIT 6: MULTIPLYING AND DIVIDING MULTI-DIGIT NUMBERS, SECTION D: LET’S PUT IT TO WORK: PROBLEM SOLVING WITH LARGE NUMBERS.

IM Grade 4 Math™ is aimed at providing students with a deep understanding of mathematical concepts through inquiry-based learning.

These Google Slides were created to PROVIDE A VISUAL ELEMENT to the learning experience and to EASE THE TEACHING PROCESS!  The teacher’s guide is really hard to follow!!  There is a lot of flipping back and forth between pages, finding the right column, figuring out the multitude of steps, etc. etc. etc.

In addition to the slides, EACH ENTIRE LESSON IS OUTLINED IN THE SPEAKER NOTES!  I highly recommend putting the slides in “Presenter View” by clicking on the drop down arrow next to “Slideshow” in the upper right hand corner.  I always view my presentation in “Extend Mode” and split the screens between the Student’s View and my Teacher Notes.  The students can see the slides, and I can see the lesson.  If you need help extending your screen, talk to your tech person or check out YouTube.  If you’d like to email me, I’d be more than happy to help!

Each lesson has it all!  There are (amongst many things!):

  • Lesson and Activity Purposes and Background Information
  • Materials to Gather and Copy
  • Links to Materials to Print (You will need an account to access these.  It is free!)
  • Scripted Teacher Directions clearly marked in red and suggested time frames
  • Warm-Ups for each lesson
  • Learning Goals
  • “I Can” Statements aligned to Common Core Standards written in kid-friendly language
  • 2-3 Activities per lesson, each with a “Launch” section and a “Synthesis” section
  • Sample Student Responses
  • Tips for Advancing Student Thinking
  • A “Cool Down” at the end of each lesson to synthesize everything and focus the work
  • Exit Tickets (I don’t print these.  We complete them in our Math Notebooks to try and save a few trees!)  :)
  • Links to Section Checkpoints, Practice Problems, and End-of -Unit Assessments
  • Fun graphics and transitions that will engage students!

YOU CAN LITERALLY CLICK THROUGH THE SLIDESHOWS AND TEACH ENTIRE LESSONS OR UNITS! There is no need for a cumbersome teacher’s manual!  I recommend clicking through at least once prior to each lesson so you get an idea of the transitions and content.

These slide deck lessons are amazing. The slides are engaging for the students, and the speaker notes contain the teacher guide anecdotes.

Use the four operations to solve word problems involving distances, intervals of time, liquid volumes, masses of objects, and money, including problems involving simple fractions or decimals, and problems that require expressing measurements given in a larger unit in terms of a smaller unit. Represent measurement quantities using diagrams such as number line diagrams that feature a measurement scale.
Apply the area and perimeter formulas for rectangles in real world and mathematical problems. For example, find the width of a rectangular room given the area of the flooring and the length, by viewing the area formula as a multiplication equation with an unknown factor.
Fluently add and subtract multi-digit whole numbers using the standard algorithm.
