Description

Breaking down word problems can be tough for many students. Teaching them the meanings or "code" for words that indicate add, subtract, multiply, or divide can help them break the code to determine the embedded message for the strategy to solve. This activity provides you an opportunity for whole class or collaborative student work to discuss and place these common words into a category for each operation.

Included:

~ Key

~Digital Drag and Drop Activity Sheet

~Digital Word Bank and Type Activity Sheet

~Blackline Master for a Paper/Pencil Activity Sheet

The Key can be printed as a poster to hang in the classroom and used as a reference point at the conclusion of the lesson. My students used the classroom poster often!
