This mini-bundle contains two activities for students to practice using strip diagrams and equations.

Strip Diagrams & Equations Matching Activity 4.5A

In this activity, students will practice matching multi-step strip diagrams with the correct equation.

There are 12 strip diagram cards and 12 equation cards. Each separate page of diagrams and equations uses the same numbers so students have to look closely at the operations.

Students will match each equation to the strip diagram that represents it. If you choose to have them solve for the missing number, the answer cards are included to match with the diagram and equations as well.

Strip Diagrams & Equations Task Cards

These 12 multi-step story problem cards give students the opportunity to practice creating strip diagrams and equations to represent word problems.

There are three differentiated recording sheets provided, so you can choose how much guidance you want your students to have when creating strip diagrams.
-Recording sheet A has the strip diagrams completely filled in, with a variable representing the unknown number.
-Recording sheet B has the strip diagrams drawn without any values filled in. Students may use these diagrams to fill in the values themselves and solve for the unknown number.
-Recording sheet C is blank so that students may create their own strip diagrams.

Each recording sheet has a place for students to write an equation representing the problem, as well as a place to record the answer.
