Description

How To writing is explored using guided practice activities such as a sample anchor chart and graphic organizers. You'll find writing prompts, an action verb list, a recipe word list, order words coded for beginning, middle and ending transitions, a transitions word list, a success criteria chart and a rubric.

Students will learn to understand that this writing genre:

 Give a clear reason for the process.

 Provides a list of materials required to conduct the process.

 Addresses any safety precautions or rules that need to be followed.

 Includes all necessary steps for the process. Steps should be in proper order (using transition words like “first”, “next”, “then”, “finally”).

 Is easy to follow and implement. Directions should be clear. There should be no confusion.
