I believe that students need the opportunity to interact with math in a variety of different ways. Computation is important, but writing and analyzing the “why” behind the process really makes things stick.
I use this after students have had some time to work through a number of problems converting to y=mx +b. It can be used as classwork, homework and/or a mini assessment.
Page 5-6 includes a possible response your however individual students may respond differently.
